1964 Dacron fashions

Most of these clothes are not too bad, but what is that woman wearing to go sailing? Even in the 1960's that top had to look like something a little old lady would wear.

Note that nowhere in the ad does this say how long it will last, the color looks good in the ad but I am a little skeptical about that. Is this like nail polish, which is waterproof but certainly chips pretty quickly. And if you painted fabric shoes wouldn't it soak in and be impossible to remove?
